The Halal Guys are coming

HALAL IN UPPER KIRBY

According to Google Maps, the former TruMeals and Snap Kitchen location on Greenbriar at the SW Fwy next to the 59 Diner has had a new tenant for weeks: The Halal Guys. But there was no sign of them on the ground, not to mention gyros and chicken, and not even any interior remodel activity. The FOR LEASE sign remained in place long after the announcement last August that the Halal Guys were heading to Houston and starting a brick-and-mortar operation at 3821 Farnham Street across from Shepherd Square on the curve. That has now changed. The Halal Guys logo and a COMING SOON sign are already in place, and build-out is apparently now under way.

The Halal Guys' arrival may yet be a blessing for the "cursed" spot on the edge of Montrose across from Shepherd Plaza, which was once a partying hot spot but lost its luster and has been in limbo for more than a decade, with much of its considerable square footage vacant.

The small free-standing retail space on Farnham has seen three different tenants in the course of just a few years. It will be the first local outpost of the New-York originated concept that started out as a food cart.

LAW FIRM WITH ADDRESS AT 2211 NORFOLK

In other Greenbriar/Upper Kirby news, there is a new tenant at the 2211 Norfolk tower: SPROTT NEWSOM QUATTLEBAUM MESSENGER, P.C., a law firm. The multi-tenant office tower was recently re-branded with 2211 lettering after the departure of Enterprise Bank and removal of the bank's signage from the top of the building. See prior post on Norfolk Tower renaming.
