Good bye Ruchi's El Rincon de Mexico late-night Mexican eatery on West Alabama / S Shepherd

1513 West Alabama Street Houston (formerly Ruchis)
Some restaurants close shop more quietly. Here, the neighborhood is being informed rather bluntly of the late-night Mexican eatery's shutdown in the corner spot at W Alabama and Shepherd: CLOSED painted in large red lettering on both street-facing walls. And not even in Spanish. The building faces demolition, victim of the building frenzy in the area. A CVS pharmacy is planned for this site.

The space next to the restaurant has long been vacant

Across the street in the Alabama Shepherd Shopping Center, sushi place Onaga Asian Bistro underwent a name change, the second one in the last couple of years or so. Originally, it was Zake. The latest reincarnation is Maiko Bar & Bistro, an Asian fusion concept originating from Austin.
Onaga Asian Bistro is history too
